The Motorola One Power smartphone with Snapdragon 636 has been launched in the Indian market to take on the popular Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro. To be manufactured in India, the new Motorola One Power is powered by a 5,000mAh battery, has a display notch, and is part of the Android One programme, meaning it will get timely Android updates. The company – which will turn 90 years old tomorrow – has developed the smartphone in partnership with Google, it says. It also said it will enter segments such as the Internet of Things, cloud, and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Taking a dig at Xiaomi’s new Poco F1 – which does not support HD video streaming on platforms such as Netflix and Amazon Prime Video – Motorola said its new smartphone has the Widevine L1 licence to support HD video streaming.
Moto One Power: Specifications, features
Featuring a notch display, Motorola One Power has a large 6.2-inch full HD+ LCD Max Vision screen with a 19:9 aspect ratio. Powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor, Moto One Power has 4GB of RAM. For graphics, it has Andreno 509 GPU.
The smartphone comes with 64GB of built-in storage. It also supports microSD card for expandable storage up to 256GB. In terms of connectivity, Moto One Power supports 3.5mm headphone jack, USB Type-C, 4G, VoLTE, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
In the camera department, Moto One Power offers 16-megapixel and 5-megapixel sensors. On the front, it has a 12-megapixel sensor for selfies.
Motorola One Power will take on Xiaomi’s Android One-based Mi A2 smartphone.
Priced at Rs 16,999 comes with a 5.99-inch full HD+ display. Powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor, Xiaomi Mi A2 also runs on Android One, meaning it will get security and software updates on priority from Google. Other important features of Xiaomi Mi A2 are 12-megapixel + 20-megapixel dual camera, 20-megapixel front camera, and 3,010mAh battery.
Motorola One Power prices, availability
The Motorola One Power has been launched in only variant featuring 64GB storage, and 4GB RAM. This is priced at Rs 15,999. At this price range, the new Motorola smartphone will face competition from the likes of Xiaomi Mi A2, and the Nokia 6.1 Plus among others.
As mentioned, the smartphone will be exclusively available via Flipkart, and it will be going on sale from October 5 at 12:00 PM. Buyers will be able to take advantage of a few launch day offers. These include instant cashback from Reliance Jio worth Rs 2,200, cashback from Cleartrip worth Rs 1,250, and discount vouchers worth Rs 1,000 from Myntra.
