Xiaomi Redmi 6 series has been unveiled in the Indian market, marking the entry of the budget Redmi 6 range in the country. The Chinese phone maker on Wednesday announced the launch of the Redmi 6, Redmi 6A, and Redmi 6 Pro at an event held in New Delhi. All of the three variants run MIUI 9 on top of Android Oreo, sport tall displays with 18:9 and 19:9 aspect ratios, and AI-powered face unlock capabilities. The most premium of the lot, the Pro model, sports a display notch on top. Common features among the three smartphones are dual VoLTE, Face Unlock and Unlock With Mi Band, dedicated microSD card slot, and promised support for Android 8.1 Oreo-based MIUI 10 custom UI. Redmi 6A Specifications
The Redmi 6A, which is the successor to the Redmi 5A, is called the ‘Desh ka Naya smartphone’. It sports a 5.45-inch display with an aspect ratio of 18:9. The Redmi 6A comes with Arc design and has a metallic body. The Redmi 6A is the only phone among the three that comes with the single camera on both rear and front panel. The smartphone packs a 13-megapixel camera paired with EIS support on the rear panel, while on the front the phone it includes a 5-megapixel selfie shooter with AI portrait and beautify mode. Unlike the China variant, the Redmi 6A India model is powered by 12nm FinFET Helio A22 processor.
The phone has been launched in two variants — 2GB RAM/16GB storage and 2GB RAM/32GB storage. On the software front, the Redmi 6A runs the latest MIUI 9.6-based on Android Oreo. Xiaomi promises that the Redmi 6A will be upgraded to MIUI 10 very soon. The phone comes with 3000mAh battery and Xiaomi claims that it can last almost the entire day without any stutters. The phone comes with AI-based face unlock support, and also packs dual nano SIM + microSD card slot. The Redmi 6A also comes with dual VoLTE, dual standby support, which means two 4G network SIM cards can be used at a single time.
Redmi 6 Specifications
The Redmi 6 is the successor to the Redmi 5. The phone comes with a 5.45-inch HD+ Full-Screen display with 1440 x 720 pixels resolution and an aspect ratio of 18:9. The Redmi 6 comes with AI-powered dual cameras on the rear panel. The smartphone includes a primary sensor of 12-megapixel and secondary sensor of 5-megapixel with 1.25-micron pixel size for depth shots. On the front, the phone carries a 5-megapixel sensor for selfies paired with AI portrait mode. Under the hood, the Redmi 6 is powered by Helio P22 processor. The phone is 30 per cent more powerful than the Redmi 5A and is also capable of handling multitasking, Xiaomi claims.

This is the phone with iPhone X-like notch on top of the display. But, if you don’t like the notch Redmi 6 Pro lets you hide it. The Redmi 6 Pro comes with the Redmi Note 5 Pro camera setup. The phone comes with a 12-megapixel primary camera paired with Sony IMX 486 with 1.25-micron pixels and a 5-megapixel camera with Samsung sensor. The Redmi 6 Pro comes with AI portrait mode and EIS. On the front, the phone comes with a 5-megapixel sensor paired with AI portrait mode. The smartphone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 624 processor.

Redmi 6A, Redmi 6 and Redmi 6 Pro Price, Availability and Launch offers
The Redmi 6A and the Redmi 6 smartphones have been launched in Black, Gold, Rose Gold and Blue colour variants. The 2GB RAM/16GB storage model of the Redmi 6A is priced at Rs 5,999 and there is also a 2GB RAM/32GB storage version of the phone, which is priced at Rs 6,999 for the first two months. The device will go on sale at 12 PM on September 19 via Mi.com, Amazon.in and via the company’s Mi Homes and offline partners.
The Redmi 6 comes in two variants, one with 3GB RAM/32GB of internal storage and its introductory price is Rs 7,999. The 3GB RAM/64GB storage version of the device is priced at Rs 9,499. The smartphone will go up for sale at 12 PM on September 10 via Mi.com, Flipkart, Mi Homes and offline partners. Launch offers on the Redmi 6 include a Rs 500 off for HDFC debit/credit card customers on the first sale when purchasing the device online.
The Redmi 6 Pro will ship in Red, Blue, Gold and Black colour models. It comes with an ultra slim case in the box. It will be available in two variants – a 3GB RAM/32GB storage version that is priced at Rs 10,999 and a 4GB RAM/64GB model that will cost Rs 12,999. The smartphone will go on sale at 12 PM on September 11 via Mi.com, Amazon.in and via the company’s Mi Homes and offline partners. HDFC credit/debit customers will get the same Rs 500 off on the purchase.
It should be noted that all of the three smartphones have been launched at an introductory price, which could be changed at a later date if the value of the Rupee depreciates further in comparison to the Dollar.
